AnimePedia Privacy Policy
AnimePedia is an anime quotes and ringtones app. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and how you can control it. In short: your bookmarks and preferences live on your device by default, signing in with Google is optional and only used to back up your bookmarks, and ads / analytics run through the third-party services listed below.
Account & sign-in (optional)
AnimePedia works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in with Google (via Firebase Authentication), we receive your Google name, email address, and profile photo to show on your Profile screen and to identify your saved data in the cloud. Signing in lets you:
- Back up your bookmarked quotes to Google Firestore so they survive an uninstall or follow you to a new device.
- Migrate bookmarks saved under an older AnimePedia account, if applicable.
You can sign out at any time from Profile. Deleting your account (Profile → Delete Account) permanently removes your Firebase Authentication account and your bookmarked data from Firestore.
Local data (no account needed)
Whether or not you sign in, your bookmarks, liked quotes, theme choice, and other settings are stored on your device (local database + preferences). This data is never uploaded anywhere unless you're signed in, in which case bookmarks are also backed up as described above.
Advertising
The free version of AnimePedia shows ads, served through AppLovin MAX, an ad mediation platform that may route a given ad through several underlying ad networks. These networks may use device identifiers (e.g. the Android Advertising ID) to serve relevant ads.
- You can opt out of personalised ads through your device's advertising settings (Settings → Google → Ads → Delete advertising ID or equivalent).
- AnimePedia Pro (a one-time purchase) removes all ads.
Analytics & crash reports
To understand which features are used and to fix crashes, AnimePedia sends anonymous, aggregated diagnostics through Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) — for example, that a quote was viewed or a sound was previewed. This never includes your quote content, bookmarks, or anything that identifies you personally.
Push notifications
If you enable the "Daily quote" / content-update notifications toggle in Settings, your device subscribes to a Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) topic used to notify you about new content. This requires the Android notification permission, which you grant (or later revoke) through your system settings. Leaving the toggle off means you never subscribe.
Purchases
AnimePedia Pro is a one-time purchase. The transaction is processed by Google Play; Google Play handles your payment and we never see or store your payment details. We use RevenueCat as our billing infrastructure to confirm and remember whether Pro has been unlocked. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly-generated app user identifier and your purchase status — never your name, email, or quote data. "Restore Purchases" uses the same mechanism to re-grant Pro on a new device.
Permissions
- Internet — to load the quote/sound catalog and sync the features above.
- Notifications — requested only if you enable the daily-quote / content-update toggle in Settings.
- Modify system settings — used only when you tap "Set as ringtone / notification / alarm" on a sound, to change that specific system sound. AnimePedia does not read or alter any other device settings.
- Set wallpaper — used only when you choose "Set as wallpaper" on a quote image you've created in Quote Studio.
Quote Studio's "pick a background from your device" option uses Android's built-in Photo Picker, which does not require a storage permission — the picked photo is used only to render your export and is never uploaded anywhere. Saved quote images and downloaded sounds are written to your device's Pictures/Downloads folders using Android's scoped storage, which also needs no extra permission.
Children's privacy
AnimePedia is a general-audience app for anime fans. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app removes all local data from your device. If you're signed in, Profile → Delete Account also removes your account and your backed-up bookmarks from our servers.
Third-party services
These are the third parties involved, and their own policies apply to the data described above:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging) — Firebase privacy
- Google Play Billing — Google privacy
- RevenueCat (purchase verification) — RevenueCat privacy
- AppLovin MAX (ad mediation) — AppLovin privacy
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the in-app Privacy Policy link.
